Burn Notice alum Coby Bell is joining
the cast of Fox's yet untitled X-Men spinoff series.
Written by Matt Nix
("Burn Notice"), who will also serve as the series showrunner, the
yet untitled mutant drama focuses on two
ordinary parents forced to go on the run from a hostile government after
discovering that their teen children possess mutant abilities. The family eventually teams with an underground
network of mutants to fight for their right to be.
Bell will play
Jace Turner, "a
weathered man who quietly wrestles with the moral ambiguities of a job that
regularly requires cold-blooded, calculating efficiency on a day-to-day basis."
The actor
joins Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Jamie Chung, Natalie Alyn Lind, Blair Redford,
Sean Teale, Emma Dumont, and Percy Hines.
Bell's acting
credits also include The Game, and Third Watch.
The Untitled Fox Marvel Project is a co-production
between Marvel Television and 20th Century Fox Television. Matt Nix ("Burn
Notice") will write the pilot script and act as an executive producer
along with Bryan Singer who will direct the pilot.
Lauren Shuler Donner ("X-Men: Days of Future
Past"), Jeph Loeb ("Marvel’s Daredevil," "Marvel’s Jessica
Jones"), Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: Days of Future Past"), and Jim
Chory ("Marvel’s Daredevil," "Marvel’s Jessica Jones") will
also serve as executive producers.
