Marvel Studios has
released the first piece of concept art from Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok
featuring Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death that two-time Oscar winning
actress Cate Blanchett will play.
In addition to the concept
art, Marvel also announced the casting of Jeff Goldblum ("Jurassic Park")
as the eccentric Grandmaster, and Karl Urban ("Star Trek") as the
mighty Skurge.
"The
continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with
the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the
makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet," said Producer Kevin
Feige. "The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t
be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would
be an honor, and having all of them is incredible."
Blanchett,
Goldblum,
and Urban join Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as
Heimdall, Sir. Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, a.k.a.
The Hulk, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
Thor: Ragnarok opens
in theaters on November 3, 2017.
