It looks like Lucasfilm
is narrowing down the list of possible candidates to play a young Han Solo in
the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie.
According to Variety,
after seeing thousands of different actors, the studio has thinned the list of
actors to about a dozen or so. Among the names being consider for the role are
Milles Teller, Dave Franco, Ansel Elgort, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan
Lerman, Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some), and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn).
While it may seem
early to start casting for a movie that will only come out on May 25, 2018,
sources tell Variety that the rush to find someone to play a young Han Solo has
to do with another Star Wars spinoff. It seems that it is possible that the new
Han Solo will have a small cameo in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars
Story, which still has a month of shooting to go before wrapping up, so if this
is indeed true that means we will be hearing something sooner rather than
later.
Disney pulled the
same trick when casting Spider-Man. Tom Holland was cast relatively early so
that the studio could introduce him Captain America: Civil War.
At 30 years old Dave
Franco is the oldest actor in the list followed by Scott Eastwood with 29,
Milles Teller with 28, Emory Cohen with 25, and Jack Reynor, Logan Lerman and
Blake Jenner with 23.
