It's official!
Fruitvale Station and Creed director Ryan Coogler has signed up to direct
Chadwick Boseman in Marvel's Black Panther.
"We
are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,"
said producer Kevin Feige. "The talents Ryan showcased in his first
two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many
fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with
Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to
life."
So far, Coogler has been proving why he is one of the great directors of his generation. His debut film Fruitvale Station, which he wrote and directed, earned multiple awards, and his installment in the Rocky franchise, Creed, surpassed the imagination. Incidentally, Sylvester Stallone has already won a few awards for reprising his role as Rocky in Creed, including a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture, and he is expected to get an Oscar nomination as well.
Black
Panther will make his debut in Captain America: Civil War, premiering on May 6,
before going solo on February 16, 2018.
