Amidst a moronic petition to have George Lucas replace
Colin Trevorrow as director of Star Wars: Episode IX, the filmmaker recently
revealed that he and fellow Star Wars director Rian Johnson have been working
together to ensure that both films don't feel disconnected from each other.
"A story must
evolve or perish, and Rian and I are working closely together to make sure our
stories build off of each other and continue to evolve and take us to new
places, and I think that’s what the fans expect and what they want."
This isn't the first
time Star Wars directors have worked closely together. Johnson spent a good
amount of time on the set of The Force Awakens, and he famously collaborated
with J.J. Abrams on the ending of the movie.
Regarding the
petition, I would like to remind forgetful fans that of the four Star Wars
movies Lucas directed, only one is actually a good movie, and that of course is
the 1977 Star Wars, which incidentally Lucas managed to stain with superfluous additions
and bad CGI. As for the dreadful prequels, between the bad script, overuse of
CGI, and their non-direction (something Lucas is famously known for), they were
a very low point in the franchise.
Star Wars: Episode
VIII opens in 2017, and Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019.
Just how ignorant are you? Your George Lucas hate insults show everyone how lame you are. The prequels were wonderful, the originals redone were so much better than the theatrical blah versions and you know nothing. Most fans love them and so did I.
