Showtime has released a quick
sneak peek for the upcoming third season of their Victorian horror miniseries.
Season three will include a
few new faces joining the already established cast. Tony-winning actress Patti LuPone, who appeared
in one episode of the second season as the Cut-Wife, will now play Dr. Seward,
an American therapist who "treats Vanessa with an unusual new
approach". Sam Barnett
(Jupiter Ascending) will play Dr. Seward's mysterious young secretary. Christian
Camargo (Dexter) will play Dr. Alexander Sweet, a zoologist who befriends Vanessa.
Wes Studi from Hells On Wheels will play Kaetenay, an intense and enigmatic
Native American with a deep connection to Ethan (Josh Hartnett), and an ally of
Sir. Malcolm (Timothy Dalton). Shazad Latif (The
Second Best Marigold Hotel), will play Dr. Jekyll. And last but not least is Jessica
Barden (Far from the Madding Crowd) will play Justine, a young acolyte to Lily
(Billie Piper) and Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney).
Penny Dreadful returns Sunday,
May 1 on Showtime.
