In very disappointing news, Australian writer/director
George Miller, has announced that he won't be making more Mad Max movies.
Miller, now 70 years-old, justified his decision to
abandon the franchise he co-created in the late 70s by saying that it is too
complicated and time consuming to make a Mad Max movie.
"Those Mad Maxes take forever. I won't do those
anymore," Miller revealed.
Miller's announcement comes as a surprise since he was
already talking about making another Mad Max movie. He even mentioned some
ideas, but perhaps that had more to do with the hype he was riding upon Fury
Road's release, and now that the dust has settled, he has reassessed his plans
for the future.
Regardless, Fury Road was a moderate success at the
worldwide box office, so I'm sure someone else will eventually pick up where
Miller left off. Question is, will it be the same?
