Steven Spielberg And Gene Wilder Teaming Up For A Project?

With Steven Spielberg spinning multiple projects at the same time, it can be difficult to attach names to any given one of his projects, and such is the case with AICN's report that the award winning filmmaker is attempting to lure fellow Oscars nominee Gene Wilder with a role in one of his upcoming films.

According to the news outlet, several sources are claiming that Spielberg has met with Wilder to see if the actor would lend his voice to the director's upcoming adaptation of Roald Dahl's The BFG. If this is the case then it would mean that Wilder would once again step into Dahl's world after the 1971 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

However, last week Warner Bros. announced that they had setup Spielberg's adaptation of Ernest Cline's Ready Player One for a December 15, 2017 release and AICN speculates that Spielberg could be looking at Wilder to play James Halliday in the upcoming adaptation. In the novel Halliday is the creator, programmer, and designer of the massively popular online simulator known as OASIS, and who after his death leaves behind a message revealing that he has left Easter Eggs scattered across the virtual world, and who ever finds them will inherit the game.

Whatever the case may be the idea of Wilder and Spielberg possibly working together is as exciting as it is to hear that the actor could be coming out of retirement. The last time Wilder appeared on camera was in 2003 on Will & Grace where he played Mr. Stein.
