After some very public behind-the-scenes tension
between essentially everyone including director Sam Taylor- Johnson and "author"
E.L. James, and between Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, it looks like
Universal Pictures has decided to get the franchise over in one clean motion.
According to The Wrap, Glengarry Glen Ross and House
of Cards director has come aboard to direct Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty
Shades Freed and has agreed to helm both project back-to-back.
James' husband Niall Leonard is penning the script for
both films, which see the return of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota
Johnson as Anastasia Steele.
Fifty Shades Darker opens on February 10 2017, while Fifty
Shades Freed opens on February 9, 2018.
