On February 12, 2016,
Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) and Gina Carano (Haywire) will be seen in Tim
Miler's R-rated Deadpool as the villainous duo Ajax and Angel Dust. IGN caught up with
the pair at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, and they offered a few new details
about their characters and how they fit into the story.
"The workshop
that we run is very similar to Weapon X in that we take terminally-ill soldiers
and we give them superpowers," Skrein said. "Ajax (Skrein) and Angel
Dust (Carano) went through that process themselves and now we run the program
and we're the people that changed Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) into
Deadpool."
Skrein, who is a big comic book fan, worked with his co-star to develop
a backstory for her character. "We decided Ajax kind of found her,"
Carano said. "Pretty much Angel Dust will only listen to Ajax. I'm like a
horse rearing to go and he pretty much has the reins."
As for the nature of
their relationship Skrein explained that they "wanted to keep the relationship ambiguous
in a sense. We really wanted people to not know whether we were Brother and
Sister, lovers, whether it is a teacher-pupil situation almost like a pimp and
prostitute situation, for want of a better word," to which Carano quickly pointed
out, "He's the prostitute."
Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, T.J. Miller as
Weasel, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
