A couple of months ago Hugh Jackman sent out an
instagram message announcing that the sequel to his 2013 The Wolverine, which
is expected to come out in 2017, will be his last time playing the character.
Now, while on the Dr. Oz show Jackman confirmed that
the sequel will indeed be his last time as James Howlett, aka Wolverine.
"This will be my last one," Jackman said, adding
"It is my last time, it just felt like it was the right time to do it. And
let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so
I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it."
The actor also said that he has mentally prepared for
leaving the franchise, and that the sequel is the perfect way to go.
It's still unknown if Jackman will join director Bryan
Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse or not.
