Coulson asks Gonzales for help
and lets him know that he knows of his deep secret in this clip from next

claiming that the problem with S.H.I.E.L.D. was its secrets, he has a secret of
his own. Maybe that will be the way Coulson will deal with the situation, by
exposing Gonzales as a hypocrite.
