According to THR, Universal Pictures has hired Dutch director Diederik Van Rooijen to helm the remake of Alfred Hitchcock classic movie, The Birds.
Van Rooijen is best known as the
writer and director of the Dutch tv series Penoza, which has been remade in the
U.S. at ABC under the title Red Widow starring Radha Mitchell and Goran Visnjic.
Actress Naomi Watts was
previously attached to star, but is no longer involved in the project, which
counts with Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller producing with Platinum
Dunes and Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman producing for Mandalay Pictures.
