And we thought there wasn’t going to be any more casting surprises; well we were wrong (it happens), because it seems that another character has been added in secret and we are just earing about it now.
In the first X-Men, which was
also directed by Bryan Singer, one of Magneto’s henchman was a green complexion
mutant called Toad played by Ray Parker, who was zapped out of the Statue of
Liberty by Storm, and that’s the last we expected to hear from him, but today actor
Evan Jonigkeit (Girls) told MTV that he recently played a younger Toad in
Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
At the season three premiere of
Girls, the actor told MTV that “it’s a generation story of how he came to
be. It’s really cool.” The actor also
added that Toad will look different from the first film: “I would say it’s a
darker tone.”
So a Toad in the 70’s… I’m sure
that his appearance won’t be significant to the storyline, I’m guessing he will
appear as part of Magneto rounding up disgruntle mutants and forming the Brotherhood
of Mutants, but then again he could have some action scenes, who knows…
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens
on May 23rd, 2014.
