Andy Muschietti was chosen by Universal Pictures to replace Len Wiseman as the director of The Mummy reboot. Wiseman was to be the director of the reboot but had to leave the project due to scheduling issues. The reboot will have a script done by writer Jon Spaihts from Prometheus.
Muschietti’s
only relevant work has director was the horror short Mamá which was then turned
into a feature film called Mama, which had Guillermo del Toro has producer.
Mama is a good horror flick that banked $146 million at the box-office for
Universal, which I’m guessing helped in Muschietti.
The Mummy
reboot will have its action take place in modern times and please no more
Scorpion King thingies.
