With its September
1st IMAX premiere beginning to loom over the horizon, ABC has unveiled the
first image from Inhumans, their new television series based on a preexisting
Marvel Comics comic book series.
From left to right we
have Eme Ikwuakor ("Extant") as Gorgon, Ken Leung ("Lost")
as Karnak, Anson Mount ("Hell on Wheels") as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan
("Ballers") as Queen Medusa, Isabelle Cornish ("Home and Away")
as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon ("Game of Thrones") as Maximus.
Marvel’s Inhumans
explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including
Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so
powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
A
version of the first two episodes of the new series will premiere exclusively
in IMAX theatres for a two-week period in September, prior to the 8-episode ABC
run this fall.
Also
starring the series is Sonya Balmores ("Beyond the Break") as Auran,
Mike Moh ("Empire") as Triton, Michael Buie ("Hawaii
Five-0") as King Argon, Lofton Shaw ("OMG!") as young Black
Bolt, Ellen Woglom ("Californication") in an undisclosed role, and
Tanya Clarke ("Banshee") as Queen Rynda.
Gorgon – Cousin
of Black Bolt, member of the Royal family, and leader of the Attilan military.
With super strong legs, complete with hooves, he can generate destructive
seismic waves with a single stomp. The yin to his cousin Karnak’s yang, Gorgon
would rather fight than talk to solve his problems.
Karnak - Black Bolt's cousin
and close adviser, who has the ability to see the weakness or fault in all
things - structures, people, plans, ideas. He is a philosopher, martial arts
master, and a firm supporter of Black Bolt.
Medusa - Queen of the Inhumans and wife of Black Bolt.
His most trusted advisor, a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to
move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.
Crystal – Medusa’s
sister, Crystal is the youngest member of the royal family and has the ability
to control the elements. Impetuous and independent she is also deeply devoted
to her family.
Maximus - The manipulative, genius,
charming, and insane brother of Black Bolt, who often plots against the Royal
Family including his brother.
Marvel’s Inhumans, were first
introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that
time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and
iconic characters in the Marvel Universe.
Marvel’s Inhumans is executive
produced by Scott Buck ("Dexter," "Marvel’s Iron Fist")
along with Jeph Loeb ("Marvel’s Daredevil") and Jim Chory
("Marvel’s Jessica Jones," "Marvel’s Luke Cage") with Buck
serving as showrunner.
Roel Reine ("Black
Sails") will direct the first two episodes of the new series.
