Jon Favreau's
upcoming re-imagining of Walt Disney's 1994 classic animation The Lion King has
cast two of its main leads.
James
Earl Jones ("Star Wars") and Donald Glover ("The Martian")
have boarded the film, and they are set to voice Simba and Mufasa,
respectively.
While
for Glover this will be his first time in the Lion King world, for Jones, Favreau's
movie will be his second time voicing Mufasa. The actor previously played the
character in the 1994 award-winning animated film co-directed by Roger Allers
and Rob Minkoff.
Produced
by Favreau and Jeffrey Silver from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson ("Catch
Me If You Can"), The Lion King is being described as a live-action
retelling of the original movie, but with the absence of a human character like in Favreau's previous
Disney movie The Jungle Book, it's unclear just how "live-action" the film
will be.
