Nicole Kidman, who
received her fourth Academy Award nomination this year for her supporting performance
in Lion, is in negotiations to join the DC Extended Universe.
According to the THR,
Kidman is in early talks to join Jason Momoa in James Wan's underwater
superhero film Aquaman.
Should she sign,
Kidman will play Atlanna, the titular hero's mother and Atlantean Queen, who
falls in love with a lighthouse keeper and gives birth to Arthur Curry, a.k.a.
Aquaman (Momoa).
Aquaman also stars Willem
Dafoe as Vulko, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and just announced Yahya
Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
From a script by Will
Beall, Aquaman is expected to focus on the titular character's struggle between
the surface and underwater worlds.
Kidman can next be
seen on the HBO dramatic miniseries Big Little Lies, which she also executive
produces.
Aquaman opens in
theaters on October 5, 2018.
