Academy Award nominee Naomi Harris is joining Dwayne
Johnson in Rampage, a New Line project based on a video game from the
1980s.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but like the
game it is based on, Rampage will feature three monstrous creatures - gorilla, wolf
and crocodile - whom wreak havoc on several North American cities.
Harris, who apparently picked the project due to the
fun tone of the script, will play a "geneticist with a moral streak"
opposite Johnson's "animal-loving hero who is the world's hope."
For Harris, who gave an exceptional performance in writer/director Barry Jenkins' outstanding drama Moonlight, Rampage is not her first go at big
spectacle movies. The actress has plenty of experience in the genre having played
Tia Dalma in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and Moneypenny in the
Daniel Craig James Bond movies.
To be directed by Brad Peyton from a script by Ryan
Engle and rewrites by Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal, Rampage hits theaters on
April 20, 2018.
