Newcomer Jacob Tremblay is joining Shane Black's forthcoming
big screen reboot of Predator for 20th Century Fox.
The young actor, who gave a scene-stealing performance
opposite Brie Larson in the Oscar-winning drama Room, is set to join Olivia Munn,
Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, and Travante Rhodes.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Tremblay is
set to play the yet unnamed son of Holbrook's former Marine character.
According to
THR, Tremblay's character "is autistic and bullied in school but becomes a key player in the
fight due to his preternatural ability to learn languages."
Since Room in 2015, the ten-year-old
thespian has landed some big roles, including starring in Stephen Chbosky's upcoming
adaptation of the R.J. Palacio novel Wonder opposite Julia Roberts, and in The
Book of Henry, a drama from Colin Trevorrow also starring Naomi Watts and Lee
Pace.
Production is scheduled to begin next month in
Vancouver.
