After miraculously surviving
Relativity Media's very messy and very public financial meltdown, The Crow
reboot is finally, I repeat, it is finally moving forward.
According to The Wrap,
production on the long-in-development film will begin January of 2017 for a yet
unknown release date.
Last month Jason Momoa was
rumor to have been in talks to star in the film, and after recently sharing a photo
Instagram of himself with director Corin Hardy with the hashtag "#sealthedeal",
the Game of Thrones star is expected to star in lead role.
The new film will be a new
adaptation of James O'Barr's cult classic graphic novel and not a remake of
Alex Proyas' iconic adaptation starring Brandon Lee from 1994.
The story follows Eric Draven,
a murder victim who returns from the land of the dead to exact vengeance on
those who murder him and his fiancée.
For Momoa, The Crow means will
be jumping from one comic book movie to another, since in all likelihood the
actor will be stepping into Draven's shoes after finishing is turn as Aquaman
in Zack Snyder's Justice League. However, Momoa's superhero waltz does not end
with The Crow as he will be returning to the DC Extended Universe shortly after
for James Wan's Aquaman standalone film, which is set to open in theaters in
2018.
