The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy has confirmed what fans pretty much knew already, that director Zack Snyder is going to be directing the Justice League movie.
Warner Bros. President of worldwide production, Greg
Silverman stated that:
“It will be a further expansion of this universe, ’Superman vs Batman’
will lead into ‘Justice League.’”
This isn't a big surprise, considering that Zack
Snyder is the one introducing all these characters in Batman vs. Superman, so
it makes perfect sense that he will be the one to further develop the story
with Justice League.
Batman vs. Superman is adding characters at an almost
alarming rate, even if they are cameos. In addition to Batman and Superman, the
film will also feature Cyborg, Lex Luthor, and Wonder Woman, who according to Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing, might still
get a standalone movie after all.
“That is our hope, with the right script, that could be viable. The
world is ready for her.”
Warner Bros. has other titles currently
being developed under the New Line label, like Shazam, Metal Men, 100 Bullets
and Fables, and unsurprisingly they will not have any connection to the Justice
League (there goes the DC's cinematic universe).
Opening on May 6th, 2016,
Batman vs. Superman will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman,
Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg,
Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry
White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto.
As for the Justice
League, the script is still in development so Warner hasn't set a release date
yet, but it's unlikely it would come out before 2018.
