Academy
Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon and Six-time Emmy nominated actress
Mindy Kaling have entered negotiations to join Ava DuVernay's ("Selma")
upcoming family-fantasy-adventure film A Wrinkle In Time.
Based
on Madeleine L'Engle's 1962 novel with a script by Academy Award wining
director Jennifer Lee ("Frozen"), the film centers on a girl named Meg who with her small
brother Charles, and friend Calvin, go on a heart-stopping journey through
space in search of her scientist father who went missing while experimenting
with time travel.
Witherspoon
and Kaling are set to join Oprah Winfrey as two in a trio of celestial beings
that will help Meg and her companions on their journey.
Winfrey
will play Mrs. Which, the most powerful of the three as well as the most distant
from human reality, while Kaling will play the quote-loving Mrs. Who, and Witherspoon
the "young" Mrs. Whatsit.
Production
is set to begin this November in Los Angeles for a yet unknown release date.
