Selma director Ava DuVernay has departed from Intelligent
Life, a sci-fi project currently in development over at DreamWorks with Academy
Award winning actress Lupita Nyong'o attached to star.
Written by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and
his writing partner Derek Connolly, Intelligent Life centers on a United
Nations employee who works in a special department designed to monitor outer
space who one day makes contact with a beautiful alien woman.
According to sources, DuVernay, who had joined the
project earlier in the year, has left the project over scheduling conflicts.
The director is currently working on a variety of different projects including
a television series starring Rutina Wesley titled Queen Sugar for OWN, and
Disney's adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's sci-fi/fantasy children's book A
Wrinkle in Time.
