Late last year in
December, Paramount Pictures announced a plan to develop a series of interconnected
movies based on various Hasbro properties such as G.I. Joe, Micronauts, M.A.S.K.
(Mobile Armored Strike Kommand), ROM, and Visionaries: Knights of the Magical
Light.
Now, and just like
what they have done with the Transformers franchise, the studio has put
together a writers room to help create a shared Hasbro cinematic universe that
includes:
- Pulitzer Prize winner
Michael Chabon ("The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" comic),
- Brian K. Vaughan ("Y:
The Last Man" comic),
- Nicole Perlman ("Marvel's
Guardians of the Galaxy", and "Marvel's Captain Marvel" movies),
- Cheo Coker ("Marvel's
Luke Cage" series),
- John Francis Daley
and Jonathan Goldstein ("Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie),
- Joe Robert Cole ("People
vs. OJ Simpson" series, and "Marvel's Black Panther" movie),
- Jeff Pinkner ("The
Dark Tower" adaptation),
- Nicole Riegel ("Dogfight"),
- Geneva Robertson ("Tom
Raider reboot"),
- Lindsey Beer ("Kingkiller
Chronicle" adaptation)
"We first and
foremost put together a list of writers who we wanted to be in business with
and could be the world-builders that we needed", said Hasbro's executive
vice president and CCO Stephen Davis. "But we want to be sure that in the
room we have diverse perspectives, diverse backgrounds and diverse
experiences."
Academy Award Winning
screenwriter Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind"), who heads Paramount's
Transformers writers room, will oversee the team for the studio and Hasbro.
