Daisy
Ridley is reteaming with her Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams
for Kolma, a fantasy thriller that the director will produce for Paramount
Pictures, and that Marielle Heller ("The Diary of a Teenage Girl")
will direct.
Based
on the 2003 Israeli TV movie All I've Got ("Kol Ma She'Yesh Li"),
Kolma follows a young woman who is involved in a car accident that kills her
boyfriend. Decades later, married and with children, the woman dies, but she is
given a choice; either pass away, or lose the memory of her husband and
children for the opportunity to go back to the fateful day of the accident and
be with her lost love.
Ridley
was a relative unknown before working with Abrams on The Force Awaken, and
Kolma is the first project she has signed on to since Star Wars. The British
actress is currently shooting the yet untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII, directed
by Rian Johnson ("Looper").
