After being catapulted into
the public eye with her starring role in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force
Awakens, Daisy Ridley is now reportedly being considered for another franchise.
According to Deadline, the
23-year-old actress is in the running to play Lara Croft in Warner Bros. and
MGM's upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.
Apparently talks have taken
place, however it is still very early and no official negotiations or offers have
yet been made as producers have cast a wide net, and are patiently waiting for
the right actress.
Angelina Jolie famously played
the role in the 2001 movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel Lara Croft
Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in 2003.
Norwegian
filmmaker Roar Uthaug (The Wave) has recently brought onboard to help re-launch
the franchise, which is expected to be based on the current timeline of the
game franchise that centers on a young Lara Croft, who just started
her "archeological" career.
Ridley is currently filming
Star Wars: Episode VIII with director Rian Johnson.
