Music legend Paul
McCartney has quietly joined the cast of filmmakers Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning's Pirates of the Caribbean:
Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Although
production has already wrapped, both directors and producer Jerry Bruckheimer
have decided to return and film an additional set piece, which is said to be
"extra big" and centered on McCartney, whose character remains a mystery.
The Beatle follows on
the footsteps of his compatriot and fellow music legend Keith Richards from The
Rolling Stones, who played Captain Teague, Jack Sparrow's (Johnny Depp) father
in the last two Pirates of the Caribbean movies - At World's End and On
Stranger Tides.
McCartney's acting
career is short and mostly composed of cameos and guest appearances. As a musician,
however he was nominated three times for the Academy Awards, winning one with
John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Star for the score for Let It Be.
Opening in theaters
on May 26, 2017, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead
Men Tell No Tales also stars Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Javier
Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, and Brenton Thwaites.
