Warner Bros. has unveiled a funny new teaser for Chris McKay's (Robot Chicken) The LEGO Batman Movie
where Batman's overdone origin story is the butt of the joke as Alfred lays out
every time we have seen it in both the big and small screens.
Written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows), and
produced by The LEGO Movie writers and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller,
The LEGO Batman Movie centers on Batman, voiced by Will Arnett, whose world is
turned upside down when he is forced to team up with Robin and Batgirl to save
Gotham from the Joker.
Also starring Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon, a.k.a.
Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Michael Cera as Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Robin,
Zach Galifianakis as Joker, and Mariah Carey as Gotham City Mayor Marion
Grange, The Lego Batman Movie opens in theaters on February 10, 2017.
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO®
Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble
– LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes
brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile
takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with
others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
