Orphan Black superstar Tatiana Maslany has entered negotiations to join
Stronger, an upcoming movie based on a memoire written by Jeff Bauman, a
survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
Bauman (Jake Gyllenhaal) was waiting at the finish line
in support of his girlfriend Erin (Maslany) when the bomb, which was close to
him went off, killing three and injuring hundreds including Bauman, who lost
his legs. Thirty hours later Bauman woke up in the hospital where he
immediately set off one of the biggest manhunts in American history after
writing down on a piece of paper, "saw the guy. Looked right at me."
The Orphan Black star was
reportedly in contention for a role in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII
alongside Gina Rodriguez, and Olivia Cooke,
but the recent announcement that Gugu Mbatha-Raw had joined the galaxy, far,
far away, may have undermined Maslany's chances to join the franchise, if she was
up for the same role.
