It seems that someone
over at Marvel can't hold down their liquor, as according to a report by
Bleeding Cool, the studio is gearing up to announce the cancelation of their
response to Fox's X-Men, the Inhumans. This yet unconfirmed news comes just
after they announced the Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and three new yet untitled projects for
2020.
We should all be
skeptical of things said in bars during conventions, but dropping the Inhumans
from their calendar makes some, though painful, sense.
Marvel recently
underwent a very big and very public corporate restructure that saw not only the
disbanding of their creative committee, but also Kevin Feige bypassing Marvel's
head Ike Perlmutter altogether and reporting directly to Disney. Problem is
that Perlmutter, who is not fond of Feige and vice versa, continues to oversee Marvel's
TV side of things, where the Inhumans have gained a foothold thanks to Marvel's
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where the concept and characters are being developed, a
full three years ahead of the movie, which for now is still scheduled to come
out on July 12, 2019.
Personally, I'm or
was looking forward to see the Inhumans on the big screen, and not that I don't
like what I'm seeing on the show, but I have my doubts that the Royal Family
will show up otherwise.
