Orange is the New
Black breakout star Laverne Cox has landed THE role in the upcoming remake of
the cult classic, Rocky Horror Picture Show. The actress is set to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter,
the sexually ambiguous, mischievous, lingerie wearing, and stiletto walking alien
mad-scientist that was previously and more famously played by Tim Curry in the
both the UK and Broadway stage productions and in the 1975 film.
THE ROCKY HORROR
PICTURE SHOW follows sweethearts Janet Weiss and Brad Majors, who stumble upon
Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous
flirtatious alien mad-scientist, is holding an annual, Transylvanian science
convention to showcase the birth of “Rocky Horror” – a fit, attractive man
created solely to fulfill Frank’s desires.
Lou Adler, who executive
producer on the original film returns to produce the remake with Emmy Award
winner Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus, Newsies) set to direct, choreograph, and
executive produce.
Rocky Horror Picture
Show will air in the Fall of 2016 on FOX.
