Sony recently announced the release dates for a series
of projects to come out until 2019, and among the very few original concepts,
there were plenty of known properties including Underworld 5, a new Jumanji,
and two new sequels to the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence centered buddy cop action
comedy Bad Boys.
Although he prolonged the Men In Black franchise by
starring in a third movie a decade after the second one had come out, Smith has
stayed away from returning to his old roles despite plenty of occasions. For example,
he recently passed on the opportunity to reunite with director Roland Emmerich for
the upcoming long lost sequel to the1996 sci-fi action blockbuster Independence
Day where he played Captain Steven Hiller, but that might not hold true for Bad
Boys.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Smith will be
involved in the project, but whether that means he will star, produce, or both remains to be
seen.
Bad Boys 3 opens on February 17, 2017, while Bad Boys
4 hits theaters on July 3, 2019.
