Universal Pictures
has approached Lost, Fringe, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 screenwriter Jeff
Pinkner to pen one of the films in their Classic Monster Shared Universe.
According to The Tracking Board, the screenwriter was hired to write a
modernized adaptation of Jack Arnold's 1954 classic monster movie, the Creature
from the Black Lagoon.
Pinker is currently
writing the adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower for Sony, and he is
part of Paramount's Transformers writers room experiment.
In the Creature from
the Black Lagoon, a fossil expedition on the Amazon River goes sideways when
scientists come across a half-human and half-fish pre-historic creature that becomes
enamored with one of the women on the team. Avengers stars Scarlett Johansson
was offered that particular role, but as of this time no word it's unknown how
negotiations are progressing if they are progressing at all.
