After losing J.K. Simmons and
Michael Keaton to scheduling conflicts, Legendary Pictures and director Jordan
Vogt-Roberts are now on the hunt for someone to replace the two actors in the
upcoming monster movie, Kong: Skull Island.
Per Deadline Samuel L. Jackson
is in early talks with Legendary for the role Simmons was initially set out to
play, while John C. Reilly is the top choice to replace Keaton, but no offer
has yet been made by the studio. Concerning Tom Wilkinson, it seems that he was
offered a lead role in the project.
The idea behind the latest
King Kong movie is to "fully immerse audiences in the
mysterious and dangerous home of the iconic ape as a team of explorers
ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island." When he was
still attached to the project Simmons revealed that it would take place in 1970
Detroit and not the more traditional 1930 setting.
Opening
on March 10, 2017 Kong: Skull Islands so far stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson,
and Corey Hawkins.
