It looks like
Paramount Pictures is taking a step forward in their big screen adaptation of
the 1990's teenagers' wet dream of a TV series, Baywatch. The project gained
some energy last fall when Dwayne Johnson signed on to star, and now according
to THR, the studio seems to have found a director.
According to the
site, Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is in talks with the studio to helm
the adaptation, which should resemble 21 Jump Street in tone, and will center
on a by-the-book lifeguard (Johnson), who teams up with a young hothead "in order to save the beach from environmental
destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon."
The
most recent script was penned by Freddy vs. Jason Friday the 13th, and upcoming
Aladdin live-action spinoff writers, Mark Swift, and Damian Shannon.
Production
is expected to start in early 2016.
