Marvel has been trying to get writer and director Adam McKay (Anchorman) to
helm one of their projects ever since Edgar Wright left Ant-Man, and he ended up polishing the script with star Paul Rudd. Now while
doing the press rounds for Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Studios President
Kevin Feige revealed to Collider, that McKay is definitely in the run to direct
one of their properties.
Adam McKay is in the running for everything. Adam
McKay is a great, great writer and director. He did an amazing pass on the Ant-Man draft with Paul Rudd for us, and I
didn’t know him before then. And we got to know him through that and liked him
very much, and have met with him a number of times trying to find something
else, so we’ve talked about a lot of characters with him.
If McKay is to direct a film of the current slate of
movies the studio has coming up then it would be either Captain Marvel, Black
Panther, Inhumans, or Spider-Man.
If I had to take a shot at what property the filmmaker
would be more incline to accept I would say perhaps Spider-Man, mainly because the character has a little bit more play to him, but we don't know what kind
of tone the films will have so…
Spider-Man lands on the big screen on July 28, 2017. Black
Panther is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2018, Captain Marvel opens on
November 2 of the same year, and Inhumans a year later on July 12, 2019.
