With all this talk of Spider-Man
joining Marvel's Cinematic Universe, we almost forgot that Sony still has plans
for the much talked about Sinister Six, and Venom spinoffs, thought I'm not
sure how that will play out since the franchise has been rebooted.
According to Variety Sony is still
moving forward with the announced spinoffs, but add that Kevin Feige, who is
helping the studio make the next Spider-Man film, will not be involved with the
studio's expansion of the franchise.
"The studio is still moving
forward with the Spider-Man villain-centric “Sinister Six,” and “Venom”
spinoff, as well as a film that features female characters in the “Spider-Man”
universe. “The Amazing Spider-Man 3″ has been cancelled. While Marvel’s Feige
is involved with Sony’s new “Spider-Man” films, he currently is not expected to
be creatively involved with the spinoffs, sources say."
It's hard to believe that Sony
would pursue with their plans for the spinoffs and not ask Feige, who is
currently at the top of the superhero world, to at least offer his two cents on
the course of action for the spinoffs.
What do you think?
