Until Lucasfilm/Disney decide it's
time to announce the characters in which the spin-off films will be based on, the
rumor mill surrounding these projects will continue to spin. We had rumors of Boba
Fett, Han Solo, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jar Jar Binks…i'm kidding, I'm kidding.
Today a new rumor spins the mill ever
so slightly towards three Obi-Wan Kenobi films being in the development. The
rumor comes via Cinelinx, which claims that the studio is developing three Obi-Wan
films but they add a twist…they are not connected.
"First up, they are not talking
about an Obi-Wan spin-off movie but a trilogy of Obi-Wan movies," their source claims.
"I need to stress that these movies are not connected. They aren't part of
a story arc but 3 separate Obi-Wan adventures set between Episodes III and IV."
So Disney/Lucasfilm have stated that they actively
pushing for a more cohesive film universe and adding their new animated tv show
Star Wars Rebels into the mix, and all of the sudden they are developing three films
about the same character that don't arc. I have my doubts, but never say never
right? I sounds more like they have three drafts, or ideas for a Obi-Wan standalone
film, what do you think?
But the site elaborates.
"One set completely on
Tatooine and two where Obi-Wan travels elsewhere in the Galaxy. Qui-Gon Jinn is
very much present in these stories. So too is Owen Lars. Several
characters from the Clone Wars T.V show would make an appearance. There
would be flashbacks to Obi-Wan fighting in the Clone Wars."
I would imagine that Disney would want to distance themselves from the
less well received prequels, but ok!
What do you guys think?
