After
making four extremely successful Transformers movies, director
Michael Bay is now thinking about maybe moving on. Speaking with USA
Today, the director whose latest film, Transformers: Age of
Extinction grossed over $1 billion worldwide, but completely and
utterly flopped with critics, revealed that he has more stories to
tell so maybe this is the time to depart from the movie franchise he
helped built.
Bay,
49, believes he will pass the baton for future Transformer movies to
a new director while he turns his focus elsewhere.
"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make," says Bay, who is eyeing a passion project, a documentary on elephant poaching. "I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles."
This
isn't the first time Bay said he was going to stop with the
Transformers movies, so I don't think he will, especially considering
that this is one of the most profitable franchises from recent years,
and that he as extended his contract with Paramount for another three
years.
What
do you think? Will he leave or stay?
