In an interview to IGN, director
Doug Liman revealed some things about his adaptation of the popular video game
Splinter Cell.
The director said that he and Tom
Hardy are currently working on the script for the video game adaptation.
"I’m working on the script with Tom Hardy. I
think we have a great take on how to make an awesome film out of that."
The director also said that Sam
Fisher, the main character of the game, that Hardy will be playing, will be
younger than is current version in the games.
"Everything about Splinter Cell will be younger.
It’s a chance to come up with a new franchise that is fresher and newer and
younger, and Tom Hardy is such an incredible actor."
The movie seems to be heading the
same way the 007 franchise went, as in less gadgets, like the famous Multi-Vision
goggles.
"Some of the tropes of the game will for sure be
in the film, but also the fun of that is when you lose them. To strip that
stuff away and really make the character have to operate without it."
Doug Liman's next movie comes out
next week and i urge you to go see it. It's titled Edge of Tomorrow and stars
Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. As for Splinter Cell, it is expected to hit
theaters next year.
