Following
yesterday's announcement that James Mangold's sequel to The Wolverine
would be hitting theaters on March 3rd,
2017, Deadline is reporting that 20th
Century Fox has chosen scribe David James Kelly to pen the screenplay
and that Hugh Jackman is set to return as the titular character.
Jackman's
return isn't exactly a surprise, but what is a surprise is Fox hiring
Kelly to pen the script, since his only writing credits are a short
that he also directed in 2010 called Straw Man and the brief stint at
trying to reboot the Daredevil character for the studio.
This
will either be Jackman's eigth or ninth apperance as the Wolverine
depending on whether or not he appears in X-Men: Apocalypse which is
going to star the cast of First Class.
