Although still working in X-Men:
Days of Future Past and planning the sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, director Bryan
Singer is going to make a brief stint on the small screen, directing the pilot
for Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan’s new show, Battle Creek over at CBS.
The project was first brought to
the network’s attention back in 2002, but they passed it. But when Breaking Bad
ended and Gilligan became once again available, the network remembered that
they had that other project by the creator of one of the best and most successful
shows of all time in their vaults, and decided to move on it with a straight to
series order. Weird right?
Anyway, according to The Wrap
Singer has signed on to helm the pilot for Battle Creek, which revolves around
two detectives with two completely different views of the World. “Together,
they must answer the question: is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean
up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek Michigan in the face of a lack of
resources, or will naivete and trust get the job done?”
Wait! isn’t that True Detective?
Oh well.
House M.D. creator and executive
producer David Shore will be the showrunner while Gilligan acts as executive
producer of the series, which already has a 13 episode order.
