20th Century Fox has
acquired the rights to adapt the upcoming novel by columnist Ellis Henican,
Cold Comfort (aka How to Catch a Russian Spy), which follows an American
civilian that convinces the FBI to let him help bring down a Russian agent on
American soil. Director Marc Webb will helm the picture and produce it, but
since he was recently confirmed as the director of The Amazing Spider-Man 3,
which begins shooting later this year and has a release date of 2016 and since
there is already an Amazing Spider-Man 4, which at this time doesn’t have a
director attached but it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio brought back Webb
to helm the fourth installment in Spideys new franchise if the The Amazing
Spider-Man 2 and 3 are box office hits, so this leaves this spy thriller movie
on hold until either 2016 or 2018, which is when The Amazing Spider-Man 4
opens.
