It seems that Warner Bros. King
Arthur film might finally get off the ground, after years stuck in development
and delays. According to Deadline, director Guy Ritchie is looking to make a
tentpole fantasy version of King Arthur, meant to span six films.
Despite the risk of 6 films, Warner
Bros. seem keen on having another Harry Potter type fantasy franchise under their
belt, and this certainly fit the bill.
Ritchie was already developing a
King Arthur movie, but unfortunately it fell through when Warner decided to go
with David Dobkin’s Arthur & Lancelot, starring Kit Harrington and Joel
Kinnaman, which also fell through but due to budget concerns by the studio.
Meanwhile the script for the
first King Arthur seems to be done by Joby Harold (Awake) with Akiva Goldsman
and Lionel Wigram as producers.
