Yesterday
it was announced that Marvel had teamed up with Netflix to bring Daredevil,
Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones to the small screen, and that four
characters and respective series would culminate in a The Defenders miniseries.
Well during a Disney Company quarterly Earnings Call, Chairman and CEO Bob Iger
commented on the decision, saying that they chose these characters because they
are “not among the most popular”, but added that if the series were to become a
hit, then a feature film for each character could be possible. This comment
doesn’t come as a total surprise since Luke Cage and Iron Fist were rumored to
be in the pipeline as possible future feature films.
But
these four series and miniseries aren’t the only projects Marvel has planned to
the small screen. It seems that Marvel and ABC are planning another series to
join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Iger didn’t have any more details to give, but the
rumor is that the Agent Carter One-Shot, which accompanied the Iron Man 3
Blu-ray is to be adapted to the small screen, making Agent Carter the first
acting director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
If
this show is truly going to be made, than my hat is off to those that are going
to make it, since the already “established” Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
continues to decline in the ratings.
