With Man of Steel coming out on Blu-ray, Warner Bros. decided to put together a live event in New York with Kevin Smith hosting and director Zack Snyder and actors Amy Adams and Henry Cavill (via satellite). This event was not only about Man of Steel but also served as a little tease for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman.
Well
for the most part the participants talked about the inspiration in the film,
fun times on set, explaining something’s of the movie, like the codex, Krypton,
etc…, but what the fans were really hoping was for some juice on the whole
Batman vs. Superman movie. Well nothing was said, and although disappointing not
really unexpected. For those who watched the event or for those of you that are
going to see it (here) nothing was said. It’s not like we were expecting Snyder
to say Nightwing or Wonder Woman are going to appear in the movie, or any other
Justice League character for that matter, but perhaps an official title? No
nothing like that, every time the subject of Batman vs. Superman came to light,
Snyder delayed the answer so to give some suspense to the whole thing and then
said nothing or responded with a joke.
So
nothing changes, everything about the film except Ben Affleck being Batman is
to be considered a rumor at this point.
And
what about the artwork for Batman vs. Superman, you ask, well it’s not really
Batman vs. Superman artwork or concept art per say, they are art pieces that
may or may not be for, and I’m going with the latter, be from the upcoming
film.
The artwork
was created by artists Alex Pardee, Jonathan Wayshak and David Correia for a charity
called We Can Be Heroes by the Save the Children organization in partnership
with DC Entertainment, and are going to be sold (prints) to help make money for
said charity. You can see the artwork at the end of this post.
The
charity does good work, so if you can help by either buying some of the prints
or by just donating it would be really, really cool. Here is something about
the campaign. You can check out the We Can Be Heroes website for more
information.
“We
Can Be Heroes (WeCanBeHeroes.org) is a giving campaign designed to raise
awareness and funds for the drought and famine in the Horn of Africa. Using the
iconic Justice League characters from DC Entertainment — Superman, Batman,
Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg — We Can Be Heroes
aims to raise substantial funds for three humanitarian aid organizations
working in Africa: Save the Children, Mercy Corps, and International Rescue
Committee. These nonprofit partners have a track record of delivering effective
and expeditious humanitarian and famine relief to those affected by this
crisis. DC Entertainment will match donations up to $1 million in total
donations.”
