Last week it was announced that director Joe Wright was in negotiations to helm the new take on J.M. Barrie's classic novel, Peter Pan. Now it looks that the studio has offered the lead villain role of Blackbeard to Javier Bardem.
From
a script by Jason Fuchs, the story tells the tale of “an
orphan [who] is taken to the magical world of Neverland, where he
becomes the savior [sic] of the natives and leads a rebellion against
the evil pirates.”
It's
unknown why Blackbeard and not the classical and iconic Captain Hook,
which comes together with Smee and the Crocodile, but if Bardem signs
the deal, this will be another villain he adds to the collection,
having previously played the role in No Country for Old Men, Skyfall
and the Counselor.
