While
at the premiere of Carlo Carlei’s Rome e Giulietta at Festival di Roma 2013,
director Guillermo del Toro, who is currently working on his next film Crimson
Peak, gave a quick interview where he talked about a DC Comics/Warner Bros.
movie he is developing, titled Justice League Dark, which features Swamp Thing,
The Demon Etrigan, John Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre and the
father/daughter magicians duo, Zatara and Zatanna. In the short time he updated
on the lack of any real development on the project, he also gave an intriguing statement
regarding the future of the DC Universe on film.
"We're
still on (Justice League Dark), writing, and hopefully it will happen but there
are no developments that are new. We're still at Warner Bros., they are making
plans for the entire DC universe. All the superheroes, all the mythologies, and
part of that is Justice League Dark. They're planning on TV, movies, and all
the media, so we have to fit into that plan."
Zack
Snyder is currently working on the Batman vs. Superman movie, which may or may
not involve Nightwing and Wonder Woman, but with the also rumored appearance of
other Justice Leagues members in the film, it seems that both DC and Warner
Bros. are finally going full on to try and catch up to Marvel and Disney.
