Joss
Whedon’s Firefly is probably regarded as one the best cult sci-fi series of all
time, and while fans may probably never see another episode ever, the 2005 film
Serenity gave some closure to the events that transpire in the last episode of
the series.
Despite
the lack of box-office success, die-hard fans are still craving for more, and
that is where Dark Horse is coming in. The comic book publisher is stepping in
to give fans another go at the crew of Serenity, and together with Zack Whedon,
who will be writing it, the publisher will be releasing a six issue miniseries,
which may or may not be turned into an ongoing series.
The
new comic book series, titled Serenity Leaves on the Wind will continue where
the feature film left off, meaning no Wash.
The
press release sheds some light on where and how the crew is doing but not much
else.
“Malcolm
Reynolds’s crew shook the ’verse to its core when they laid bare the crimes
against humanity undertaken by their sinister government—the Alliance. Always
outlaws, Mal, a very pregnant Zoe, new pilot River Tam, and the other surviving
crew members are in greater danger than ever, and everyone’s asking the same
question . . .”
Serenity:
Leaves on the Wind #1 0f 6 will hit the comic book store shelves on January 29,
2014
